Big Jason Henderson $40,000 Blog Contest

Big Jason Henderson, he of the Top Affiliate Challenge and The Next Internet Millionaire fame, is holding a huge $40,000 Blog Contest at his Big Marketing Online site.

Among the prizes are consultation time with some big name consultants like Jack Humphrey. I'm intrigued by social branding expert, Ms X, who will make you sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before you start consultation time with her, should you win.

Whypark - Domain Parking or Hosting Site?

Over the last 18 months, I have bought about 170 domain names. Some I want to develop, some for investment purposes. Buy low, sell high, they say. But along the way, analysis paralysis comes into play. So what to do? I park half my names at Whypark.com and half at another site, which I will talk about in a future post.

Whypark is unique in that I pay them to park my domains. For $99.95, I can park 100 names. They will populate my sites with articles and give me 2 ad slots where I can use virtually any ad network. The main thing is that I get to keep 100% of the ad revenue. In effect, I am getting hosting for $1 per site forever and can monetize with almost any ad network. An added bonus is that they allow you to customize extra pages with your own content. An example of such a site would be this one

Alternatively, I can opt into Whypark's ad network and share their ad revenue. An example would be this domain. You can choose either option and that's one reason why I love how Whypark works.

Using Revver to Upload Videos

I use Revver to upload my videos. One can earn a few cents as they have Google ads embedded on the bottom of the videos and at the end. Following is a video I shot of the 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder at the auto show using my Flip Video Ultra.

Affiliate Earnings Receivable

These are my affiliate earnings receivable and they have been accumulating for at least a couple months. This is just my personal scorecard and I'll pop in posts like this when I have nothing else to write about.

Still earning pennies right now. Not going to be rich tomorrow but you got to believe that in the long run, you can do it. In the meantime, one can't quit the day job yet.

Amazon $146.50
Revver $17.83
Whypark $12.22
Commission Junction $27.53
Kontera $3.39
Squidoo $15.83

Total receivable: $223.30

What blog contest prizes have I won?

Over the last 2 months, I've won a Flip Video camcorder, a $50 Market Leverage Amex reward card and a 2 gb USB/pen. Also won a list of 100 expiring domain names.

Inspired Money Maker contest

There's another Market Leverage contest at InspiredMoneymaker.com, where Paul is giving away a Flip Mino, a $50 ML Rewards card and a 2Gb USB pen. You can check it out
here.

MyInvestngBlog contest

I was just checking out MyInvestingBlog and noticed that he, along with Market Leverage, is giving away $300 in prizes, consisting of a $150, $100 and $50 AMEX Rewards cards.

To get started on this contest, you will need to answer the following question - if you won $50,000, how would you spend it? There are also other ways to earn more tickets for the draw.

My answer was - I would give $5K to various charities, spend $10K on agri-business stocks like Potash Inc, Deere, and the rest into my mortgage and savings.

Commission Junction Rant

Just found out that CJ charged my account a fee of $10 because it was dormant for 6 months. That just sucks. Apparently, the fee is mentioned in the TOS, which I only scanned.

My ads were not converting even though I had some clicks. What I should have done was lower my payout and get a small cheque from them before they dinged me with the fee.

Collin Lahay contest at Mixedmarketarts.com

Collin Lahay, fresh off the Top Affiliate Challenge, has a Market Leverage contest on his blog MixedMarketArts.com . You can read his review of Market Leverage here

Enkay Blog Contest

I was just browsing over Enkay Blog and noticed that he, along with Market Leverage, is giving away a brand new Asus EEE Laptop PC, a $50 AMEX Rewards Card and 3 2GB USB Pens. Thanks Enkay & Market Leverage!

Contests Winnings vs Affiliate Earnings

I will be comparing my contests winnings against my affiliate earnings to see if one makes more than the other. Affiliate earnings would include earnings via blog and also those from other internet ventures (ie. ppc ads, web2.0, etc)
